Tuesdays-YOUTH (Grades K - 7)

Little ones have fun with movement and dance. Students will participate in physical exercises that build coordination, balance, and agility. Students will also explore a range of dance styles and will learn basic choreography that will have them dancing everywhere they go.

Using music creation software such a Garage Band or Logic, students learn the fundamentals of arranging their own tracks. They will explore a wide range of instruments and musical styles and will learn how to combine these elements to make original compositions.

Students will gain practical experience in the kitchen and will measure, mix, chop & cook will practicing different recipes and learning about food from different cultures. Kitchen safety and etiquette and understanding nutrition in cooking will also be covered.  **Additional $50 fee per semester, $100 fee for Fall and Spring Semesters required for food costs**

Students build skills in drawing, painting and other mixed media that may include collage and sculpture. Color theory, composition and other fundamentals of visual arts will be explored.

There is an additional $25 fee for Supplies.

Private Lessons are available in 24-week sessions from October to May. Lessons are scheduled individually by Institute staff. Private lessons are not covered for financial aid.

A limited number of lessons are available in 12-week session from February to May.

A beginning acting class that gives students a chance to use their voices, bodies and imaginations to create characters and tell stories. Students work on pantomime, expressing emotion, and creating dialogue while becoming more comfortable and confident in front of others.  Students will work towards a performance in the spring.

Discover and explore the vibrant rhythms of West Africa in this fun and communal, hands-on drum class. You’ll learn basic techniques and call-and-response patterns, with the djembe, as you practice traditional songs in a shared group drumming experience.

Troupe Acting class will take students through activities and exercises, students build the “Actor’s Toolbox” including strengthening voice, body, imagination and memory. Students will practice building characters, creating dialogue and develop stage presence. Students learn how to become keen observers and listeners while becoming more comfortable, confident and supportive.  Students are required to attend both days of class.  Classes will conclude with a performance in the Spring.

The Institute gets asked to perform for local events, so we created Harmony BAND! Open to students who are proficient in an instrument. Must be available for both days as well as performance opportunities. Interested students must audition to be considered.

Ever wonder how artists create their amazing music?  Using music creation software such a Garage Band or Logic, students take it up a notch and combine electronic music production skills and their voices to create their own original recordings either using a current hit, or their own personal song.
